The Sembcorp Myingyan Independent Power Plant (IPP) is a 225-megawatt combined-cycle, gas-fired power plant located in the Myingyan district of the Mandalay division.
Costing about US$300 million, the plant is one of the largest gas-fired independent power plants in Myanmar, and would help to play a key role in meeting the country's growing demand for electricity.
This project was developed under a build-operate-transfer agreement between Sembcorp Myingyan Power Company Limited and the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) of Myanmar signed in January 2017.
Under the agreement, Sembcorp Myingyan Power Company will build and operate the power plant for 22 years, after which the facility will be transferred to the government.
